Biography

Born in Lucca (Italy), Giulia studied at the Conservatorium “L. Boccherini” in her city with the teacher Marzio Conti and then in Switzerland at the Music Hight School of Lugano with the teacher Mario Ancillotti and Stefano Parrino, getting the highest marks with Laude in both graduations.
She studied also with famous teachers like Michele Marasco, Philippe Bernold, Andrea Oliva, Rien De Reede, Mario Caroli and Tiziano Mealli in many master classes, obtaining a lot of awards and having a lot of successful performances.
In the month of June 2009 she got the Bachelor Diploma with very good marks under the teaching of Benoit Fromanger.
In July 2010 Giulia finished the flute improvement program  at the Santa Cecilia’s Academy of Rome with the teacher Andrea Oliva and at the International Pianist Academy of Imola ( Italy ).
​On June 2013 she has got her Master Degree at the Prince Claus Conservatorium in Groningen with full marks and "cum Laude", under the teaching of  Professor Egbert Jan Louwerse.

Since she was very young, Giulia was the winner in a lot of musical competitions in Italy, as a flute soloist or as member of chamber music ensembles. Then, on April 2007 she won the First prize at the Swiss Music Competition of Riddes and she played like flute soloist at the Hight Music School “Tibor Varga” of Sion (Switzerland). In 2006 and on 2007 she won the International Flute Competition “Severino Gazzelloni” and the special prize named “Luciano Berio” (Italy).

In 2010 Giulia won the International Competition for young soloist talent in Malta, performing in the Vivaldi flute solo and strings Concerto n. 2 “La notte” at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta (Malta). She won also the International Competition for young soloist in the city of La Spezia (Italy), performing in the Mozart Concerto in D major with the “C. A. Mussinelli” Orchestra. In the same year, Giulia received the prize “Targa Vittoria Alata – Marianna Bottini” for her musical activity.

She performs continually in numerous concerts as soloist or in different chamber music ensemble, in Italy and in foreign countries, getting always a lot of appreciations on her talent.
She play also a lot of modern pieces form Italian composers, part of whom is dedicated rightly for her. She played music pieces written by Azio Corghi, Ivan Fedele, Marcello Panni, Silvia Colasanti and Franco Donatoni.
She is one of the founders of the Extreme Ensemble, a special chamber music ensemble formed by flute, double bass and other instruments with whom she performs in Italy, in the Netherlands and abroad exploring new repertoire written or transcribed especially for this ensemble.
She is also part of the Italian Duo, with whom, together with the guitarist Saverio Rapezzi, she performed in many concert in Italy, in the Netherland and in Los Angeles (USA).

She has recorded for the Italian Switzerland's Radio, with the chamber music ensemble ‘900 under the conduct of G. Bernasconi. She also recorded for DYNAMIC editions with the “Algoritmo” contemporary ensemble under the conduct of M. Angius.
​Then she recorded for the Italian RAI television, taking part like flute solo to the soundtrack for the Italian fiction “Il caso Enzo Tortora” put on air in the month of September 2012.

Giulia focus her activity on chamber music, but she did not renounce to improve herself in orchestra activities: in fact she has collaboration with many orchestras, like first flute, second flute, piccolo player or flute solo on the scene (Noord Nederland Orkest (NL), Symphonic Orchestra of Rome, Symphonic Orchestra of Savona, Puccini Festival Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of Carrara, New European Orchestra and the Italian Academy singing Orchestra), performing with lyric and symphonic repertoire. She also played as principal flute with the Conservatorium “L.Boccherini” ’s orchestra (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010), with the professional orchestra of Music Hight School of Lugano (2006, 2007) and with the orchestra of Music University of Cincinnati (USA, 2008).

 

Actually Giulia is the flute teacher in Florence at the Music High School "Dante"; she is also Artistic Director of Massarosa Music Fest - Summer Musical Academy in Massarosa (Lucca, Toscana - IT).
